Former President Donald Trump disclosed buying millions in Meta, Microsoft, Tesla, and other major stocks in August...

Former President Donald Trump purchased stakes in major technology, energy, and consumer companies last month. His August stock purchases included Meta, Microsoft, Tesla, Nvidia, and AMD, with his largest disclosed transaction being Meta stock valued between $5 million and $25 million.

Trump's investment activity for August is detailed in an 18-page filing from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. It lists 517 transactions completed during the month. His accounts routinely record thousands of transactions each quarter involving tens of millions of dollars and shares of major companies.

He has not divested his assets or placed them in a blind trust overseen by an independent manager. This makes Trump the only U.S. president this century to maintain investment accounts that actively buy and sell stocks while in office. His extensive business empire is managed by two of his sons and operates in several industries that intersect with federal policy.

Scale and Context of Transactions

The August activity is part of a broader pattern of frequent trading involving tens of millions of dollars each quarter. Federal officials must report transaction values within broad ranges rather than disclose exact amounts. The disclosed purchases for August included stakes worth over $1 million in several blue-chip companies.

Ethics and Oversight Claims

Trump supports legislation seeking to ban members of Congress from trading shares. The Trump Organisation says independent third-party financial institutions manage the president’s stock and bond holdings and retain complete control over investment decisions. The organisation said transactions are executed through automated processes without involvement from Trump, his family or the company.

Broader Investment Activity

The filing also showed purchases of municipal bonds and SpaceX debt notes with long maturities. He bought SpaceX debt notes on August 18, which mature in July 2031. Purchases and sales of municipal bonds were also disclosed.

Trump continues to hold active investment accounts while seeking office, making him the only modern president to do so.
